Farmer's Market Friday.

My favorite walk of the week is Friday's walk. Why, you may ask. Well I will tell you. We have this thing in our town called Farmer's Market Friday. As the name implies, all the local farmers bring their wares to sell. We never miss it. Imagine my dismay yesterday morning, laying in bed, hearing the pitter patter pitter of rain on the roof of the sun porch. I was so sad. Beyond sad really. You see I went and did our grocery shopping the other day. I didn't buy a single produce item because I knew yesterday was FMF. I always buy the freshest veggies I can find.
It goes against every fiber of my being to drive to FMF. So the kids and I decided to risk it and head out in the stroller. They look brave don't they.

The sky is looking a little mean.

It is OK though because we are going in this direction
These really were taken just a few seconds apart.

Oh, we are going the right way. Good. I was worried.

We are are getting close now.

Everyone OK in there? Good

Even the ducks come out for FMF. Mark wanted me to chase them so they would fly to the river. I didn't.

We're there! We're there!

And oh the fun and wonderful things they have. The produce is always amazing but there is so much more.
There is wine. Excuse my very bad photo shop here. I didn't have permission from the Winery to use the picture so I just scrubbed their name, badly.
One of these days I will try this wine. I just can't taste wine at 10 in the morning. I have some scruples. Maybe next week we will wait and go at 11.

There is singing. The puppet heckles the crowd.

The Amish always come. Their sweet corn is out of this world.

If I could find something to do with one of these wooden bowls, I would buy one. I just love them. I find them very unique. But alas I have more storage devices than I know what to do with.

Cookies and cakes. Jam and bread. Pies of every flavor. Are you seeing why I love Farmer's Market?

Flowers. I asked to take a picture of this nice lady's sunflower. She invited me to also take a picture of her dahlia too. So I did. I try to please.

We bought our produce and headed home. We just beat the storm. We even made it in time for Anna's nap. A fact she was not overly thrilled with.

I invite you to try and beat this in the grocery store. I paid $12 for all of this. You can't beat it, unless you have your own garden which we don't. But we hope to next year. There are more potatoes and tomatoes but I didn't want to chase them all over the kitchen.

A few sunflowers followed me home too.
I love love love Fridays.

Hi Ellyn, I went to the farmers market at the park by me yesterday. You all walked over there with when you visited. It is raining here this morning so will probably not walk to our market down by the lake this morning. Do not need anything anyway, just fun to look. You loved that market!! Have a great day...Love, Mom

Sounds like a fun morning you had and I think your farmer's market looks like a lot of fun...especially the heckling puppet...and the wine, too!

I'm hosting a "Farmer's Market Report" Mr. Linky. I'd be thrilled if you'd come by and check it out! Perhaps you'd like to submit this post? Here's the link: http://toeverymeal.blogspot.com/2008/08/farmers-market-report-aug-9th.html

Thanks for making me laugh and smile and share in your trip. I am inside working all day where the lights are dimmed for computer use. The blogosphere walk did me good! I did get out to get a deli sandwich (since your Mom was making my hungry on dlynz.blogspot.com!) We have had an unusual break in the hot weather and it's about 72 and overcast. I really liked the picture of the brave kids ....... like they had a choice? .... all strapped in! : ) And if you decide to make something with all those vegetables and want a French fancy name for them .... just let me know. ; ) Your Grandma B. S. will sure enjoy the sunflower picture!

I still think you should come down here and take some of these vegetables that are invading my kitchen. They are free! Though I am sure it would cost more than $12 worth of gas to get here. But hey - I will even cook! And I have wine too - free! Love - the other Mom ;)

Our Farmer's Market is open Mon/Wed/Fri but I like to go on Friday evenings for whatever reason. We've done it enough weeks in a row that the Toddler is starting to request to "go shop for betchtubles" by Wednesday every week. It's so rough having a kid who can't stand to wait to go shopping for vegetables. ;-)

You're so fortunate to have such a great resource so close by. The nearest nice farmer's market to us is about 45 minutes. In our little town, the FM consists of two pickup trucks and a little red wagon. I'm envious.

You are very lucky to have a farmer's market. I remember having them on Tuesday when I lived in New Jersey. We don't have them here in the big city. We have to drive very far (1 1/2 hours) to find the nearest one. The best market!
